The Crime Free Programs are innovative, law enforcement based crime prevention solutions designed to help keep illegal activity off rental property. There are currently nine Crime Free Programs being offered. The Crime Free Programs were successfully developed at the Mesa Arizona Police Department in 1992. The International Crime Free Programs have spread to nearly 2,000 cities in 44 U.S. states, 5 Canadian Provinces, Mexico, England, Finland, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Afghanistan, and Puerto Rico. Three Phases of Certification

The Crime Free Programs consist of three-phases that are completed under the supervision of local law enforcement. The cornerstone of the Crime Free Programs is the partnership between law enforcement and the community working together to prevent crime. Law enforcement coordinators are certified trainers of the Crime Free programs and will provide the initial program training and property survey. Property owners and managers make the commitment to learn and apply the Crime Free Programs to help keep illegal activity off their rental property. This combination of resources has proven to be be successful in fighting crime.

Property managers can become individually certified after completing training in each phase while the physical property itself can only be certified upon completion of all three phases.The anticipated benefits of a fully certified property are reduced crime, a more stable resident base, and reduced exposure to civil liability. What the Association Offers

The goal of the association is to assist any person or organization involved with rental property management by expanding their knowledge of the Crime Free Programs through training, information sharing, and assistance. This Association is also dedicated to helping those who do not have a local or state Crime Free Association, but are interested in starting one. This Association may also be able to help you with grant writing information.

Each year the International Crime Free Association sponsors a comprehensive training conference somewhere in North America. See the photos from Riverside, California in 2005, from Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2006 and from Mesa, Arizona in 2007.

The next Crime Free Conference will be held in Surrey, BC Canada on July 14-16, 2008 and the 2009 conference will be in Kansas City, MO.
